This memorial, al the war cemetery Sigolsheim, commemorates the American units who were involved in the liberation of the Alsace in World War II.

On top of a hill overlooking the valley, immediately adjacent to a French military cemetery. Monument An impressive memorial buit on top of a hill overlooking the valley. Inaugurated on 16 November 1996. This monument is erected in memory of all American Units (12 Divisions), that fought along side of the French First Army from November 1944 to February 1945 for the liberation of the Alsace province. The monument was built at the initiative of the French 1st Army Association (Rhin et Danube) and the ground on which it stands was donated by the city of Sigolsheim. Maintenance is assumed by the services of the city of Sigolsheim.

Man får altid en dyb respekt når man står et sådanne sted.. en respekt for de mænd der har forladt hjem og land for at kæmpe i en krig... Dyb respekt
